S. O. S. – SPEAKING OF SENIORS
By Woodrow Wilcox
On March 8, 2018, I reviewed papers related to a medical bill that was sent to a senior citizen client who lives in Chesterton, Indiana.
She received a bill for $721.22 for services rendered on March 24, 2017.
I suspected that Medicare never sent this claim to her Medicare supplement insurance company. I contacted the insurance company to inquire about this, and I was correct.
To help our client, I sent a letter to the medical firm that billed her and explained this problem. I told them what information to send to the insurance company in order to get the claim processed and paid as quickly as possible. When the medical firm follows my instructions, the bill to our client will disappear.
All the help that I gave this client was FREE OF CHARGE. This insurance agency is proud of its reputation for “going the extra mile” for our senior citizen clients. If your insurance agent or agency is not willing or able to give this high level of customer service, maybe you should switch to an agency that does.
