Letter to the Editor
Our current governor is a textbook example of the absurdity that defines politicians and the process they employ to attain or remain in elective office. The governor quit Washington over alleged ethics violations and decided to be our governor. With approval of the right people in Atlanta, Georgia voters did their part and elected him.
The laughathon that we call campaigning includes various issues of real concern that will be ignored. We will be told of the jobs they will bring to Georgia. They will not talk about exempting employees from Georgia income tax when companies relocate to our state. They will not explain the costs to taxpayers of spending tax dollars on a sports arena in Atlanta. They will not admit that there are two Georgias and explain why the entire state must support the needs of Metro Atlanta.
Our politicians love illegal aliens. Hispanic or Muslim, they want more of them. The pols refuse to admit that when the numbers of illegals are high enough, black and white Georgians will be minorities in our own state. Our principles and values will be replaced by foreigners who don’t even speak English.
Politicians, incumbents and candidates alike, are not unique in their disregard for principles and values. Their counterparts across the nation do what ours do. Their actions fit exactly with the intent and objectives of UniParty in Washington which is the expansion and control of government.
Original intent of our founders was that people control government. Modern intent is the exact opposite. It is government, the office holders, and bureaucrats who hold sway over us. Today, there is very little that we do without approval of government or some government agency.
Truth is always the first victim of politics. Principles and values are odd virtues relegated to somewhere in the distant past. We the people is an antiquated idea that has been replaced with “We the politicians … ”. In the great scheme of things, principles and values will prevail. In the short term, we watch as principles and values are ignored to the point of non-existence. This is no laughing matter.
