In a report about the President’s appearance at the Values Voter Summit, Brooke Singman summed up the theme of his speech with the following quote, “times have changed … now they’re changing back.” This is important to note because it is a sign of hope for people of faith.
President Trump was saying that the dark times of the politically correct suppression by Progressives are coming to an end. He deftly observed that we as a people don’t worship government, but worship God. He said:
I pledged that in a Trump administration, our nation’s religious heritage would be cherished, protected, and defended like you have never seen … before.
Brooke Singman provided some context to this Presidential pledge by noting:
Last week, the Trump administration delivered on its commitment to religious liberty, with the Department of Health and Human Services rolling back the ObamaCare contraceptive mandate, offering ‘full protection’ to a range of companies and organizations that claim a ‘religious or moral objection’ to providing birth control coverage.
President Trump is making it very clear that he fully supports and will champion religious liberty, the sanctity of life, and limited government.
The President said:
Bureaucrats think they can run your lives and tell you how to live and what to say—but we know parents, not bureaucrats, know how to raise their children and create a thriving society.
As a Christmas gift to all of our hardworking families, we hope Congress will pass massive tax cuts for the American people that include increasing the tax credit and expanding it to eliminate the marriage penalty, because we know that the American family is the true bedrock of the American life.
Indiana Senators Joe Donnelley and Todd Young plus our nine Congressional representatives are going to have an opportunity to cut taxes and reform the tax system, as well as to support other issues dear to the hearts of people of faith. If they vote wrong, we are lucky to have Representative Mike Braun and Dr. Richard Moss ready to step in who will serve the interests of the faith community, prepared to take the places of unfaithful politicians.
