5 September 2017
The Honorable Mitch McConnell (R-KY)
Senate Majority Leader
317 Russell Senate Office Building
United States Senate
Washington, D.C. 20510
Dear Majority Leader McConnell,
Eight months have passed since Congress launched the Budget Reconciliation process by which Congress assured Americans that “Obamacare” would be repealed. Those eight months have been tortuous for the American people who were promised c for seven years and had every hope that swift action would be taken in January 2017.
After eight months, Congress has failed abysmally and disillusioned the good people who put Republicans in control of Washington. Congress now has only a few weeks to deliver relief to individuals and families whose health insurance premiums and healthcare costs have soared to unaffordable heights. The budget reconciliation window of opportunity will close on 30 September.
Leader McConnell, do not squander this opportunity. Quickly pass and send to the House a budget reconciliation bill that:
- Repeals all the Obamacare taxes, and
- Ends the cost-sharing reduction payments, and,
- Allows States to approve and individuals to purchase catastrophic insurance coverage, and
- Expands Health Savings Accounts, and
- Rescinds funding for the Independent Payment Advisory Board.
It is time for our elected officials to act in the best interests of the American people.

Editor’s Note. Readers who support VQH’s recommendation presented above should call Senator McConnell’s office directly ( 224-2541) and urge him not to let the budget reconciliation window close before passing some aspects of Obamacare repeal. Tell the Senator or his office that you endorse the VQH letter. Grassroots activism speaks loudly to elected officials!
